Sonya Denise Williams is Of Counsel to the MilVet Law Firm. Mrs. Williams is married to an Active Duty Navy Submariner. Her father is a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and her brothers are both U.S. Army Veterans. Their service instilled a sense of patriotism in her that fueled her path to become a Veterans Attorney.
Before joining the MilVet Law firm, Mrs. Williams served in the U.S. Navy for five years as an Aviation Ordnanceman and almost 3 years as a Legal Clerk. During her time in, she deployed with the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) on two occasions. After her time on the Mighty Ike, she worked in Legal Assistance at the Regional Legal Services Office (RLSO) in Norfolk, Virginia.
After her service, she attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where she received her B.S. in Sociology (Cum laude) and a B.S. in Criminal Justice (Cum laude). Mrs. Williams attended the David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law) and graduated Cum laude in 2023. During her law school journey, she interned at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, as well as worked in the Tax Litigation Clinic, Whistleblower Protection Clinic, and Community Development law clinics at UDC Law. Mrs. Williams received multiple awards for her dedication to Community Service while at UDC Law including the Edgar Cahn Community Service Award.
Mrs. Williams is passionate about assisting Veterans and is proud to have chosen this full-circle career path of service to our nation's warriors.
